Burserea graveolens
Origin: Peru
Palo Santo Aromatic Wood a.k.a Holy wood has been known to indigenous peoples of the Amazonian region since primeval times to soothe and calm the spirit and rid dwellings of negative energy. It comes from ancient sacred trees that grow in the Amazonian jungles of Peru. Unlike traditional incense sticks, Palo Santo is all natural. We offer bags weighing approximately .3 lb to .4 lb., filled with 7 sticks that are approximately 4” long.
Palo Santo wood is harvested under government supervision by the natives of the Peruvian jungle. Palo Santo trees often drop their twigs and branches and the wood is collected from the ground. No trees are destroyed in the collection of our wood. These sticks can be lit alone as is and will burn for a few seconds to a minute or so and extinguish themselves, filling a space with a sweet warm fragrance. The wood can also be ground and powdered and used in small amounts as an ingredient in incense mixtures. It mixes wonderfully with all the copal resins, sandalwood, vanilla, balsams, etc.
